Functional category
- Ciliary assembly/disassembly
- Signaling (Hedgehog, GPCRs, ion channels)
- Cardiac & muscle development
- Muscle contraction & physiology
Function
The vertebrate/human-type vasoactive molecule adrenomedullin (ADM) and its close relative compounds (PAMP and CGRP) have ligand-specific, diverse effects on the migratory behaviour of the eukaryotic ciliate Tetrahyme piriformis ( 26481478).
Model organism evidence
Mus musculus (1 reference)
In wild-type acini, cilia assemble upon ADM and Hh target gene expression is upregulated; however, ciliogenesis and Hh signalling are suppressed during ADM in cells expressing oncogenic KRAS.
