Subcellular localization
cilia
Functional category
- Ciliary assembly/disassembly
Function
Interacts with ANKS6 through sterile alpha motif (SAM), localised to renal cilia in mice
Model organism evidence
Danio rerio (2 references)
ANKS3 encodes a recently described ciliary protein with known interaction with other ciliary proteins, and deficiency of its zebrafish ortholog causes laterality defects.
Most NPHPs localize to the cilium and/or basal body; however, their precise molecular functions remain largely unknown.
