Function
CaMK-II is expressed in ciliated tissues of the zebrafish embryo, including the Kupffer's Vesicle (KV)(20630945), kidney(21752935), neuromasts, and inner ear. CaMK-II suppression results in additio l ciliated hair cells and altered levels of Delta-Notch signalling members(9806913). CaMK-II plays a critical role in the developing ear, influencing cell differentiation through extranuclear effects on Delta-Notch signalling (23747599).
Model organism evidence
Additionally, the ciliary localization of KIF17 is regulated by a C-terminal consensus sequence (KRKK) that is immediately adjacent to a conserved residue (mouse S1029/zebrafish S815) previously shown to be phosphorylated by CaMKII.
