Mouse phenotype:
increased lung weight
Mouse ciliopathy phenotype:
short tibia

Subcellular localization

cilia

Functional category

  • Ciliary assembly/disassembly

Function

Fam166b and Ccdc33 were found to be strongly restricted to the ciliary axoneme (29180514). CCDC33 occupies the extreme distal tip of vertebrate MCC cilia; independently required for normal cilia length regulation. Loss causes distinct pattern of defective cilia beating.

Model organism evidence

Mus musculus (1 reference)

A protein complex in the extreme distal tip of vertebrate motile cilia controls their organization, length, and function.
