Function
SPD-5, the functio l homologue of CDK5RAP2, is essential for embryonic mitosis and SPD-5 is the primary driver of MTOC function at the PCM and endogenous SPD-5 localized to the ciliary base (CB) of all ciliated sensory neurons(33798428).
Model organism evidence
C. elegans (2 references)
Super-resolution imaging revealed that this PCM inserts inside the lumen of the ciliary axoneme and directly nucleates the assembly of dendritic microtubules toward the cell body.
elegans sensory neurons, which we show plays important roles in neuronal morphogenesis, cellular trafficking, and ciliogenesis.
