The C-terminal tails of CIMAP1 proteins extend into the DMT lumen, where they can bind MIPs. For example, CIMAP1C (ODF3L1) between protofilaments A08/A09 interacts with the sperm-MIP SPMIP4 (C7ORF31)(37327785).
