Phenotypes
- Mouse phenotype:
- preweaning lethality, incomplete penetrance, abnormal skin morphology, increased red blood cell distribution width, abnormal salivary gland morphology
Subcellular localization
basal body
Functional category
- Ciliary assembly/disassembly
- Trafficking (BBSome, small GTPases, vesicular transport, ATPases)
- Actin & cytoskeleton regulation
Function
Drg1 as a novel binding partner of Dvl that is required for the proper Dvl interaction with Daam1. These interactions play a crucial role in modulating the formation of the apical actin meshwork and basal body docking in the MCCs(31270137). Drg1 knockdown decreases the length of cilia.
Model organism evidence
Xenopus (1 reference)
Using the Xenopus laevis embryo, we show that Dishevelled (Dvl), a key Wnt signaling scaffold that is critical to proper ciliogenesis, interacts with Drg1 (developmentally regulated GTP-binding protein 1).
