Function
GPR40 (FFAR1) mediates DHA-induced elongation of neuronal primary cilia. A GPR40 antagonist abolishes DHA-induced elongation and selective GPR40 agonists lengthen cilia in cultured hippocampal neurons and embryonic cortex. Downstream steps involve Ca2+, calcineurin-NFAT, COX-2 induction and PGE2-EP4 signaling (PMID 42871245).
