Function

MiniBAR (also known as KIAA0355/GARRE1) is a dual Rab/Rac effector with a truncated BAR domain. MiniBAR promotes cilia elongation by controlling the delivery of ciliary cargos. MiniBAR also determines cilia length by limiting cellular acto-myosin contractility. MiniBAR depletion leads to left-right asymmetry defects and signs of ciliopathy in vivo.48 h after induction of ciliogenesis, the proportion of ciliated cells was modestly but reproducibly decreased upon MiniBAR depletion. Importantly, cilia length was significantly reduced (37875118).
