Mutations in the GPC3 gene cause Simpson-Golabi-Behmel Syndrome (PMID: 9950367). Interfering with GPC3 signalling during AEC differentiation induced a significant reduction in ciliogenesis, associated with a decrease in FOXJ1 expression and defective epithelial polarization. (39844999)
