Function

We found that the OCN receptor GPR158 is present at the PC of hippocampal neurons and mediates the regulation of autophagy machinery by OCN. Remarkably, we identified five ciliary-targeting VxPx motifs at the C-terminal domain of GPR158, suggesting its possible localization in the PC (Extended Data Fig. 1f). Co-staining of endogenous GPR158 with neuronal ciliary protein adenylate cyclase 3 (ACIII) indicates its presence, at least partially, at the PC in hippocampal neurons, in cultures (in approximatively 75% of primary hippocampal neurons) and in mouse hippocampi (Fig. 1c and Extended Data Fig. 1g–j). Furthermore, we found that OCN treatment increases the number of GPR158-positive puncta associated with ACIII-positive ciliary plasma membrane (Fig. 1c)(39984747).
