Function
NMDA receptor subunit GluN1 (glutamate ionotropic receptor). Localized to neuronal primary cilia by ARL13B-TurboID in situ proteomics and validated by immunostaining and pan-ExM expansion microscopy, where GluN1 forms discrete nanodomains on the ciliary membrane positioned within ~300 nm of neighbouring glutamatergic synapses (Chang et al. 2026, Sci Adv). Establishes neuronal cilia as extrasynaptic NMDA-receptor signalling platforms.
