Function

Maintains the chondrocytes healthy under hypoxia ( 31357086). Stabilised by USP8 through deubiquiti tion, which is essential for its ciliogenesis- promoting function ( 24378640). Gene silencing of HIF-1α prevented cilia loss under hypoxia, suggesting hypoxia impacts ciliogenesis via a HIF-1α / Wnt signaling axis. (22084569) One possible explanation for the reduced ciliogenesis or increased ciliary disassembly is the functional relationship between HIF and pVHL.
