Functional category
- Ciliary assembly/disassembly
- Trafficking (BBSome, small GTPases, vesicular transport, ATPases)
- Actin & cytoskeleton regulation
Function
Also known as RABL5, component of IFT complex B. Controls the cellular levels of both IFT鈥怉 and IFT鈥怋 proteins and to regulate availability of particles participating in IFT (30940671). Recruitment of BBSome to the basal body through BBS3 and regulation of BBSome entry into the cilia (31953262).
Model organism evidence
C. elegans (1 reference)
Mass spectroscopy of affinity-purified PIFTC3 revealed several components of IFT complex B as well as orthologues of putative IFT factors DYF-1, DYF-3, DYF-11/Elipsa and IFTA-2.
