Function

ringenin exerted its protective effect on ciliary structure and number in part via modulation of the IL-17 sig ling pathway. ringenin prevented CSE-induced cilia damage via mechanisms such as the upregulation of inflammatory factors (e.g., IL-6, IL-8, IL-13), ROS and MDA. IL-17 sig ling pathway might be involved in the protective effect of ringenin on airway cilia ( 38359483). Both IL17A and IL22 were found to reduce the number of ciliated cells. IL17A, but not IL22, suppressed ciliogenesis by disrupting the proper development and docking of the basal body of ciliated cells, resulting in motile ciliary dysfunctions. (39033934)
