Phenotypes
- Mouse phenotype:
- preweaning lethality, incomplete penetrance, increased startle reflex, abnormal locomotor activation, increased mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, long tibia, increased body length
Subcellular localization
basal body, nucleus
Functional category
- Ciliary assembly/disassembly
- Trafficking (BBSome, small GTPases, vesicular transport, ATPases)
- Actin & cytoskeleton regulation
Function
Actin remodelling factor. Role in the negative regulation of ciliogenesis by upregulating the expression of YAP/TAZ target genes. Together with TESK1, LIMK2 plays a role in suppressing the directio l trafficking of ciliary vesicles to the ciliary base (25849865). knockdown of LIMK2 significantly increased the number of ciliated cells.
