Functional category
- Ciliary assembly/disassembly
- Trafficking (BBSome, small GTPases, vesicular transport, ATPases)
- Actin & cytoskeleton regulation
- Viral interactions
- Protein processing & maturation
- Signaling (Hedgehog, GPCRs, ion channels)
Function
MAP1LC3B has localized in primary cilia. Autophagic mechanism of LC3B in nucleus regulates ciliary differentiation and function. (34917923) Cilium length correlates with LC3B-II/-I ratio. (25906314) Map1lc3B–/– mice protected from cilia shortening under CS exposure. (33136096)
Model organism evidence
Mus musculus (2 references)
Based on observations that increased morphological and biochemical indicators of autophagy correlate with cilia shortening in our models, we posited that autophagy might regulate cilia length in response to CS in the lung.
Exposure to CS reduced cilia length and induced autophagy in vivo and in differentiated mouse tracheal epithelial cells (MTECs).
