Phenotypes

Mouse phenotype:
preweaning lethality, complete penetrance, increased cornea thickness, pretal lethality prior to heart atrial septation, abnormal embryo size, dilated heart left ventricle, decreased total reti thickness

Subcellular localization

basal body, cilia, cytosol, nucleus

Functional category

  • Ciliary assembly/disassembly
  • Trafficking (BBSome, small GTPases, vesicular transport, ATPases)
  • Signaling (Hedgehog, GPCRs, ion channels)
  • Cilia length regulation

Function

Also known as SIN1. Component of the mTOR complex 2. Interacts with CCDC28B to regulate cilia length and inhibits MEKK2, which activates different MAPKs that have been implicated in the regulation of IFT and ciliogenesis (23727834, 26263164).

Model organism evidence

Danio rerio (1 reference)

Kinesin 1 regulates cilia length through an interaction with the Bardet-Biedl syndrome related protein CCDC28B.
