Phenotypes

Mouse phenotype:
abnormal locomotor activation, decreased prepulse inhibition, thrombocytopenia, increased blood urea nitrogen level, limb grasping, increased startle reflex, increased circulating amylase level, increased lean body mass, preweaning lethality, complete penetrance, decreased hemoglobin content, abnormal startle reflex, decreased erythrocyte cell number

Subcellular localization

cilia associated gene, nucleus

Functional category

  • Ciliary assembly/disassembly

Function

Mecom and Notch controls nephron multiciliated cell (MCC) fate, retinoic acid (RA) negatively regulates mecom in re l progenitors to promote MCC formation, and mecom attenuates MCC number by positively regulating Notch activity downstream of RA ( 24309209).
