Phenotypes

Human ciliopathy phenotype:
retinitis pigmentosa; autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa

Ciliopathy associations

  • Retinal Dystrophy/Degeneration

Subcellular localization

cilia

Functional category

  • Ciliary assembly/disassembly
  • Actin & cytoskeleton regulation
  • T cell biology
  • Signaling (Hedgehog, GPCRs, ion channels)

Function

Mertk protein progressively co-localized with outer segment material during phagocytosis by primary RPE cells, and activated Mertk accumulated during the early stages of phagocytosis by RPE-J cells (11861639).
