Function

MT1-MMP(MMP14) is required for ciliogenesis and EC maturation through suppression of Notch sig ling during early brain development. MT1-MMP is critical for early brain development and loss of MT1-MMP activity gives rise to hydrocephalus ( 32229724).

Model organism evidence

Mus musculus (2 references)

Brn-3b is highly expressed in mature spermatids and infertility in constitutive male Brn-3b knockout (KO) mice is characterised by structural and functional testicular changes such as reduced sperm counts, impaired motility and ultrastructural defects including disrupted acrosomes and defects in

Consistent with the defects in motile cilia morphogenesis, the expression of promulticiliogenic genes was significantly decreased, with a concomitant hyperactivation of Notch signaling in the walls of lateral ventricles in Mmp14-/- brains.
