Function

MYCBP (AMY-1), the vertebrate homolog of Chlamydomonas FAP174, is a central-apparatus protein that localizes to the axonemal central lumen of vertebrate motile cilia. It was identified by mass spectrometry in both MYCBPAP and CFAP70 immunoprecipitates and co-immunoprecipitates with MYCBPAP; its ciliary signal is reduced (though still detectable) upon loss of C2a components, suggesting additional axonemal docking sites beyond the C2a projection (Lyu et al. 2026, eLife, DOI 10.7554/eLife.110601).
