Cilia effects upon perturbation of MZT2A

Subcellular localization

cilia associated

Functional category

  • Motors (dynein/kinesin)
  • Cilia???cytoskeleton/adhesion links

Function

Knockout of Mzt2 and GCP2-NTS elevates the percentage of ciliated cells in those knockout lines. Moreover, in addition to the quiescent stage, the Mzt2-and GCP2-NTS-deletion cell lines display an increased frequency of ciliated cells in the S and G2/M phases of the cell cycle, indicating that mutant γ-TuRC suppresses ciliary resorption. Furthermore, we demonstrate that Kif2A, a kinesin motor that bears microtubule-depolymerizing activity, is recruited to the basal body via a process facilitated by the Mzt2 and GCP2-NTD subunits of γ-TuRC(36384111).
