Functional category

  • Ciliary assembly/disassembly
  • Trafficking (BBSome, small GTPases, vesicular transport, ATPases)
  • Metabolism
  • T cell biology
  • Viral interactions
  • Transition zone
  • Transcription regulation
  • Cilia length regulation

Function

Interact with Nek2 to regulate cilium integrity, as removal of Nup98 from the ciliary nucleoporin complex is mandatory for ciliary resorption (26493400). Component of a diffusion barrier that limits diffusion of molecules >70kDa between cytoplasm and ciliary matrix.Knockdown of NUB98 stops cilium elongations, suggesting it is required for cilia length regulation (29731308).
