- Mouse ciliopathy phenotype:
- persistence of hyaloid vascular system
Subcellular localization
basal body, cilia, endosome
Functional category
- Ciliary assembly/disassembly
- Trafficking (BBSome, small GTPases, vesicular transport, ATPases)
- Actin & cytoskeleton regulation
- Cell migration & adhesion
- Signaling (Hedgehog, GPCRs, ion channels)
- Ciliary membrane
Function
Regulator of the endocytic recycling compartment (ERC), binds to Rabin8 and transport it to the centrosome where it activates Rab8 to assemble the ciliary membrane from the ciliary vesicle (20308558, 31204173, 22718902). Rabin8- Rab11a interaction and preciliary trafficking are promoted by PI3K and Akt inhibitors (31204173).
