Functional category

  • Ciliary assembly/disassembly
  • Trafficking (BBSome, small GTPases, vesicular transport, ATPases)
  • Signaling (Hedgehog, GPCRs, ion channels)
  • Ciliary membrane

Function

Ciliary GPCR. Localized to the plasma membrane of neuro l cilia (10199624, 23392690). Ciliary trafficking of SSTR3 into neural cilia is promoted by TULP3. Overexpression induces premature growth of primary cilia and increases expression levels of Kif3A, IFT88 and cytoplasmatic dynein (23392690). Possible influence on cell survival and/or apoptotic processes, as well as cell cycle (18992731). Overexpression of 5HT6 and SSTR3 in mouse neocortical neurons induces abnormal growth of their primary cilia. (23392690)
