Functional category

  • Ciliary assembly/disassembly
  • Actin & cytoskeleton regulation

Function

Negative regulator of ciliogenesis. Polyubiquiti ted at the mother centriole by CRL3-KCTD17. Depletion induces aberrant ciliogenesis, whereas overexpression blocks ciliogenesis (25270598). Interacts with Odf2 and ninein. Controls Aurora A (AurA) activation at the centrioles in G1 phase. Trichoplein鈥揂urA pathway is required for cell cycle progression through the suppression of primary cilia assembly (22529102). TCHP is deubiquiti ted and stabilized by USP8, critical to restrict ciliogenesis in dividing cells (29472535).
