Function
Also called P73. Might be critical for the initiation of cilia assembly by indirectly promoting the multiplication of centrosomes (25201258). Transcription factor critical to multiciliogenesis. Required for multiciliated cells differentiation, function and for the direct regulation of transcriptio l modulators of multiciliogenesis, including Foxj1, Rfx2 and Rfx3 (31028178, 27257214, 26947080). Required for basal body docking, axonemal extension and motility (27257214).
Model organism evidence
However, they have enlarged apical membranes (called apical endfeet), longer primary cilia, and increased biciliation.
Furthermore, it caused aberrant spermatid flagella assembly alongside defects in sperm head morphology and acrosome structure.
