Function
Beta tubulin isoform. Component of the cytoskeleton, centrosomes and protofilaments, structures that associate laterally to form a microtubule.
Model organism evidence
Mus musculus (1 reference)
TUBA1A, TUBA1B, TUBA1C, TUBB2A, TUBB2B, TUBB4B, and TUBB5 were identified to be incorporated in ependymal cilia, with TUBB4B showing the highest expression.

C. elegans (2 references)
One isotype, TBB-4, assembles into microtubules at the tips of the axoneme core and distal segments, where the microtubule tip tracker EB1 is found, and localizes all along the cilium, whereas the other, TBA-5, concentrates in distal singlets.
Primary cilia have essential roles in transducing signals in eukaryotes.
