Subcellular localization

basal body, lysosomes, mitochondria, nucleus

Functional category

  • Ciliary assembly/disassembly
  • Actin & cytoskeleton regulation
  • Reproduction & sperm
  • Protein processing & maturation
  • Signaling (Hedgehog, GPCRs, ion channels)

Function

Centrosomal VDAC1 is predomi ntly localized to the mother centriole, while VDAC2 localizes to centriolar satellites in a microtubule-dependent manner. VDAC2 appears to promote maturation of primary cilia(26264029).
