Function
Transcriptio l co-activator with TAZ. Knockdown of YAP does not inhibiti ciliogenesis( 25367221) but is sufficient to induce ciliogenesis, whereas YAP/TAZ hyperactivation suppresses serum starvation- mediated ciliogenesis ( 25849865). Cytoplasmic retention of YAP/TAZ correlates with active ciliogenesis either in spatially confined cells or in cells treated with an actin filament destabilizer ( 25849865). Mutations in NEK8/NPHP9 affect YAP nuclear localisation, with different mutations having different effects, leading to major organ developmental defects due to altered ciliogenesis and cell differentiation/proliferation ( 26967905)
